5 Advanced Twitter Marketing Tips For Small Businesses
Twitter was launched in the market in 2006 and in the past few years, it showed extreme growth. In fact, last February 2009, the site ranked third next to MySpace and FaceBook. Many business owners are now utilizing the site to promote their business. However, a lot of them don’t know how to maximize the site to their advantage via Advanced Twitter Marketing.
Today we look at some advanced Twitter marketing for small businesses:
1) You can use Twitter for your market research quite successfully. Every business has its target market. Through Twitter, you can easily access your target market and get useful feedback from them. Many of today’s business owners fail because they don’t know the true wants and needs of their target market. With the help of social networking sites like Twitter, FaceBook, etc, you can easily listen to the needs of your prospects, the issues they are currently facing and the kind of help they want from you.
These pieces of information are vital to your business. You can create blog posts or write articles addressing the needs of your particular target market. You can also create a new service to meet such needs or perhaps you can conduct a teleseminar or webinar on a topic that you find out is of interest to your target market.
2) Use Twitter to build a targeted op-in e-mail list. Once you have your list, you can share your information via your e-zine newsletter, or turn it into a free report for your prospects to download. You don’t need to promote your business every time you communicate with your target market but be sure to mention it every now and then, providing links to your business’ online presence, your downloadable reports, e-zine sign-up page, etc.
3) Whenever you meet someone new on Twitter, try to establish a good relationship with them. You are a customer too – you buy from people who you trust and like. Your target market also behaves the same way. You must get to know your clients better and win their trust and confidence. Make sure the bulk of your tweets contain helpful information geared to your market’s needs and aspirations. By doing so, you can attract more prospects, subscribers and sales.
4) Learn how to create blogs. In order to show your expertise in the business, you need to post good related content to your blog(s) regularly. Be sure to use the Tweet My Blog plugin to let your Twitter followers know each time you put a new post on your blogs.
5) Hold informative teleseminars and webinars, and use Twitter to invite listeners, guests and participants. For maximum results, spend 30-40 minutes providing helpful information, open up the lines for questions for 10-15 minutes, then use the last 5 minutes or so to pitch your products or services. If the call was beneficial to your prospects, you’ll see immediate results.
Studying your target market is obviously very important for your business success. Identify their needs and wants so that you can be their solution. Remember, you must try to build trust and confidence. Twitter has millions of users from all over the world, including your local vicinity – just imagine how many of them you can get to patronize your business by mastering advanced Twitter marketing!

I don’t believe that small businesses understand the power of Twitter for them.
Blogs like this with Twitter information and explanations should be a great resource for them.

Good advice on using Twitter with teleseminars… I have seen quite a few recently, and I think they go well with Twitter because of the social aspect to it.

Great information Doug,
By combining the power of all of these tools you can create a very good marketing strategy.
BTW: I am definitely going to have to look more at doing some teleseminars. This looks like a very good way to provide valuable content and even the chance to create a product from this.
Thanks,
