I will be different I guess. I see nothing inherently wrong with the transaction. I'd be concerned as a buyer as to how targeted such a list really was. And would have to accept the fact that anyone on the list is free to unfollow and that many might if they came to understand that someone new was sending messages. So as I see it the risk is on the buyer, and if they are willing to part with their money so be it.

Now, I have added over 3000 followers since I got your eBook so I have to agree there is no reason why anyone should pay for a list like Todds. Cheaper to build your own and know that it is done right.

I agree Doug.

Quite frankly it just has a bad taste for me to even consider selling those accounts. People have chosen to follow you for one reason or another and selling it off - just doesn't feel right

I agree Doug. I don't think people should sell or buy Twitter followers. To me it is somewhat like buying a mailing list. The people on the bought list have no knowledge of you and what you your efforts are about. When you start sending them info or offers that are not what they expected, they probably will not be very pleased. I don't see how buying Twitter followers will be accepted.

As the money is in the relationship whether it is email marketing or Twitter a sudden change in message is guaranteed to cause a disconnect.

Buying leads whether for an email list or a Twitter account is just not right in my opinion but then I am old and bald ;)

I totally agree with everyone's assessment of this practice Doug. I would be very upset, to put it mildly, knowing I was receiving Twitter post from someone who I might not even know or had not signed up to follow. And anyone who has read Advanced Twitter Marketing System would understand how easy it can be to get your own following and by purchasing the book will spend a lot less than bidding for followers on eBay. great post.

Hi Doug! What an interesting topic...never in a million years would I have thought of this... and after checking ebay it appears that others have jumped on this band wagon, i.e. Twitter account with 3,000 legit followers - only $175!

I for one, don't agree with this, and I think that it will be stopped, either by ebay or twitter. The main problem I have is that the person selling the account has gained the followers, once turned over to the person who buys it on ebay, those followers aren't following who they thought they were... and I'm sure that some will catch on and unfollow. Plus, if you don't know how to properly use twitter, purchase an already established account, you won't be able to maintain it...and all the other points you made :)

I agree with you, it makes so much more sense to open you Own twitter account, and spend the $ for your Advanced Twitter Marketing System and build your twitter account the right way!

Thanks, great post!
Brenda

Wow, it's amazing what people will try. I honestly can't believe that this was bidding for over $100 (well, maybe I can) ;-)

I'm with you Doug, in that I really don't feel that this is even legal, but who am I to say.

I do feel that it is morally wrong, but then the people who are buying these accounts probably don't really care about that.

I guess we will just have to see where this goes. It will definitely be interesting.

Thanks,

I agree Doug, that with your Advanced Twitter Marketing system, anyone can build up a nice list of Twitter followers without worrying about breaking any rules.

Learn how to build up targeted followers instead of just buying them, so that you can do it over and over.

Selling off your personal contacts without their approval is an unacceptable practice and there must be some legal rammafication.
